I know this has been a topic many times but I am having problems with my bleed not showing and I am going to print on Friday! I have selected 3mm bleed in document setup, and in export ticked the boxes for include bleed and include printer marks. The first version I did is showing the bleed but now I am on the final version they are not showing up.
I have sent it to the printer and it is also not showing for them so it is not my pdf reader issues. The only main change I have done is given the document background - a coloured rectangle a 3D effect rather than just flat.
Would this be the issue? Please help. First draft woodland version 1. Woodland Explorer Cards 1 - On an unrelated maybe note, why do the green background rectangles have rounded corners? There is a possibility they may show slightly if cutting was slightly misaligned.
Maybe try removing the rounded attribute, leaving the bevel look intact, then try the export again. I tried deleting the effect which was 3D not bevel I must have alter that! I am so confused as it worked originally and then didn't so it must be something in the settings. Any other thoughts? The rounded edges of the rectangle shape are part of the 3D or bevel effects so these can't be removed as far as I can see. These are all being cut into cards with rounded corners.
I am concerned that the printer may not cut these perfectly but they are confident they will. Fingers crossed. Generally, cards with rounded corners are cut with a die. Did you check with them as to the process they are using? I am attaching the AD file - reduced to one card to make it a smaller file.
Again, the bleeds were set to 3mm and I did a print pdf selecting include bleeds but still no bleeds! I must be missing something. I am new to AD so anything is possible!! The Bleed is there but you have not expanded the green background beyond the boundaries of the canvas, so there no bleeding when you export to PDF. In other words, the background, whatever it is in you case the green rectangle , must be bigger than the canvas size, to cover the bleed area you defined.
Thank you. I find that odd though as the first draft version at the top of my topic shows the bleed on the pdf and the background is the same size as the artboard. The only change was adding the 3D effect.
I have extended the green background by 3mm all round and it is now showing the bleed. Just loses the 3D effect now so I will have to work on that with discussion with the printers. That was a point I made above. It will need extended by as much or a little more than the bleed amount if you desire to keep this design idea. When you do talk with the printer, ask about the safe area they desire.
The safe area is typically equal to the bleed amount, but to the inside of the page. No design elements should extend into that safe area--so in your case with this sample, the visible image edges should be within the safe area by 3 mm. And that 3d effect ought to likely come into that safe area almost the entire amount.
If your working file is getting a bit large, you could also rasterize those images to a more manageable DPI. Right now, with this one, the dpi is quite high. The image edge is 3mm from the edge of the card on the proper versions. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Dunno without the file itself. Did you try removing the bevel effect and exporting then? I would need a test AD file or the actualike production AD file.
